On April 25, 2026, Sungen Biomedical convened the investigator meeting for the Phase II clinical trial of SGC001 in Beijing, with investigators from over 20 participating medical centers nationwide.
As the world’s first First-in-Class antibody drug primarily indicated for acute myocardial infarction, SGC001 targets a novel pathway discovered by Chinese scientists. The target has been successfully translated into therapeutic agent by Sungen Biomedical, with the initial clinical research conducted entirely in Chinese hospitals. The drug suppresses inflammation and protects myocardium by targeting the S100A8/A9 pathway. Phase I results confirmed favorable safety profiles. Compared with the placebo group, the medium and high-dose groups reduced infarct size by 20.5% and 38.1% respectively, versus placebo. It has obtained clinical trial approvals in China and the US, and been granted FDA Fast Track designation.
Designed as a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, the Phase II trial is jointly led by Professor Huo Yong from Peking University First Hospital and Professor He Ben from Shanghai East Hospital. Professor Huo noted that this pioneering research is expected to drive a paradigm shift in acute myocardial infarction emergency treatment, shifting focus from vascular recanalization to myocardial protection. Attendees conducted in-depth discussions on trial protocols and operational procedures, and shared patient enrollment experience, laying a solid foundation for high-quality trial progress.
